France Telecom Boosts Share of Spanish Market

FRANCE Telecom today hoisted its share of the Spanish telecoms market to 17% with the e6.4 billion (Pounds 4.4 billion) purchase of a controlling 80% stake in Spain’s number three mobile operator Amena. The sellers – Union Fenosa, Endesa and Banco Santander – are keeping between 20% and 25% of Amena. France Telecom’s Wanadoo arm already has 1.4 million customers in Spain.
