Will Rogers World Airport's shuttle buses have been replaced with six new vehicles, including two designed for people with physical disabilities.
The shuttle buses started service on Tuesday and will be used to move passengers from the airport to two shuttle parking lots. The buses have been branded with a caricature of a spirited steed and the new name, Giddy Up.
The buses operate on a six- to eight-minute schedule from the lower level of the terminal to a parking lot, then back to the terminal's second level for direct entry to ticketing counters and gates. Shuttle service from the long-term parking lots is free.
On an average weekday, some 1,500 travelers use the choosing between the semi-covered parking lot at $5 per day and the standard lot at $4 per day.
The new shuttle fleet was added to complement the $110 million expansion of the terminal building at Will Rogers World Airport, funded by the Oklahoma City Airport Trust and scheduled for completion in early 2006.
