China Southern Celebrates 8th Year of Transpacific Service; Airline's Los Angeles - Guangzhou ``Linchpin'' of International Service

Posted on: Thursday, 28 July 2005, 12:00 CDT

China Southern Airlines (NYSE:ZNH) (HKSE:1055) (SHA:600029) -- www.cs-air.com/en -- the largest airline in The People's Republic of China, is celebrating its eighth year of safe transpacific service between Los Angeles (LAX) and Guangzhou.

"The eighth year of our Los Angeles service is very fortunate as eight is the luckiest number in the world," said Mr. Li Kun, COO, China Southern Airlines. He added that the Los Angeles market, "is key for our airline as we continue to expand our passenger and cargo services throughout the world."

Mr. Li pointed out that not only has the Los Angeles operation safely moved tens of thousands of passengers to China and beyond, the airline's North America service also weathered downturns in business due from the September 11th terrorist attacks, as well as the SARS crisis.

On the Los Angeles-Guangzhou route, China Southern is a code-share partner with future SkyTeam member Delta Air Lines (www.delta.com). Offering Boeing 777 service between China and America, China Southern's Los Angeles-Guangzhou operation is the only non-stop, direct connection of any airline operating from Southern California.

In addition, China Southern is the only airline connecting the two "sister cities" of Los Angeles & Guangzhou and that LAX recently signed a "Sister Airport Relations Agreement" with Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou.

The largest airline in The People's Republic of China for the past 26 years, China Southern Airlines -- www.cs-air.com/en -- connects more than 80 cities around the globe. Major business and vacation destinations served in China include: Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Guilin, Hong Kong, Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Wuhan, as well as international service, including: Amsterdam, Bangkok, Fukuoka, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Islamabad, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Los Angeles, Manila, Melbourne, Moscow, Osaka, Paris, Penang, Phnom Penh, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
