VIP Communications Releases International Expat Goods and Services Survey Report

September 15, 2010

ASHBURN, Va., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ — VIP Communications, Inc., a leading provider of international calling services and solutions, today announced the official release of its Expat Goods and Services Survey Report, a comprehensive report that provides an inside look at expat and immigrant communities from over 40 countries currently living in the United States.

VIP Communications solicited feedback on a variety of subjects from more than 1,400 expat customers from six continents and more than 40 countries to obtain results that delve into several aspects of their daily lives and interests since arriving in the United States.

The Expat Goods and Services Survey Report analyzes hundreds of habits, interests and responses from numerous expat communities. It provides data and analysis that defines everything from which expats miss their native country the most to their thoughts on the economic and educational systems to sports and entertainment-related topics, and more. Among much of the featured data, some highlights are:

  • French and Italians miss home cooking the most: In the European community, Italian and French expats miss the cuisine from their native land the most, with 88% of Italians responding that the food back in Italy is better than in the US, and 84% of French expats saying the same about their native land.
  • Safety first: There is nothing more important than feeling safe in your own home, and 75% of expats agree. This percentage of people feel that their neighborhoods in their new migrant lands are safer than their original hometowns in the foreign countries where they were born.
  • UK sports fans most passionate: Only a small percentage of countries miss cheering for their original hometown teams, but the United Kingdom expats were by far the exception, with more than 90% percent saying they missed rooting for their sports teams more than anything else about their native countries. In fact, UK expats call home during soccer and rugby games more than any other community of expats, with 31% calling home during sports games each week.

“The Expat Goods and Services Survey Report reveals a range of interesting details pertaining to the overall experience that thousands of expats have been a part of since calling the United States their home,” said Graham Milne, President of VIP Communications. “At VIP Communications, our commitment to truly understanding the interests and needs of our customers is second to none, and this survey validates our philosophy of providing a level of service, quality and interaction with our customers that is unavailable elsewhere today.”

This announcement continues to build on the momentum VIP Communications has achieved recently, and solidifies its presence as the leading international calling provider to expats living in the US.
