CARY, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 2003--
20-Year Telecom Veteran to Drive Channel & Business Development as
Demand for Storage Services Escalates Among Telco, Hosting and
Network Service Providers
Arsenal Digital Solutions, the leading Storage Management Services (SMS) provider and a major revenue enabler to telco, hosting and network service providers, today announced the appointment of former Nortel Networks executive Samuel Sigarto to chief commercial officer (CCO). Sigarto will head up a new channel and business development organization, which is fueled by unprecedented demand for Arsenal's managed data protection and business continuity services. With the new management addition, Arsenal's current CCO Dan Lewis now becomes chief marketing officer, maintaining responsibility for market development and strategy, including bringing new services to market. Sigarto will report directly to Chairman and CEO Frank Brick.
The executive appointment of Sigarto rounds out a year of phenomenal growth for Arsenal. The company's revenue base grew by more than 215 percent while its customer base expanded by 264 percent. Critical to Arsenal's success has been the recurring revenue stream that Arsenal's storage services bring to telco, hosting and network service providers. In his role as CCO, Sigarto will be responsible for promoting the top and bottom line value of Arsenal's services and growing the company's partner network.
"Throughout his career, Sam has demonstrated a clear understanding of market dynamics and customer needs and the ability to create revenue for major companies," said Frank Brick, chairman and CEO, Arsenal Digital Solutions. "With his depth of industry experience, technology know-how and market savvy, Sam brings a wealth of assets to Arsenal and will be instrumental in guiding the company to the next phase of its development."
A 20-year veteran of the telecom industry, Sigarto most recently held the position of chief operating officer of Atlantic Tele-Network, Inc. (AMEX: ANK), a regional telecommunications company. Previously, Sigarto served as senior vice president for several divisions at Nortel Networks (NYSE: NT), including the Network Management Strategy, Architecture, and Alliances and the Optical Ethernet and Metro Optics Product groups. As senior vice president for Nortel's Succession Networks and Internet Telephony Product group, Sigarto spearheaded marketing, R&D and OEM agreements, driving sales growth by more than $2 billion. Prior to Nortel Networks, Sigarto spent 10 years at SBC Technology Resources (now SBC Labs, the R&D unit of SBC Communications) in various technical and management positions. Sigarto started his career at AT&T Bell Labs and Bellcore and holds four networking patents.
