PandaLabs Threat Researchers to Present at Hack in the Box Security Conference Malaysia
ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ — Luis Corrons and Sean-Paul Correll from PandaLabs, the malware analysis and detection laboratory for Panda Security, will be speaking later this week at the Hack in the Box Security Conference Malaysia in the session, “Lessons Learned from Mariposa: Avoiding Disaster, Protecting from Cybercrime.”
In March of this year, Panda Security joined with Defence Intelligence, the FBI, the Spanish Guardia Civil and others to dismantle Mariposa, one of the largest botnets ever recorded. With nearly 13 million computers across the globe affected, including 50 percent of the Fortune 1000, the takedown represented a major coup for anti-cybercrime efforts, and set a standard in global cyber security partnerships between the public and private sectors. In their presentation, Corrons and Correll will use their first-hand experience in taking down Mariposa as a platform to discuss the new and sophisticated tactics cybercriminals are using to gain entry into corporate networks. Corrons and Correll will also provide security professionals with a strategic checklist on how corporations can protect their networks from malware and the latest security exploits.
The Hack in the Box Security Conference, taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from Oct. 11-14, is an annual conference dedicated to providing technical knowledge on how to assess and protect against today’s ever-changing network security threats.
