Transitive's QuickTransit(TM) Software Expands Support to All Silicon Graphics(R) Intel(R) Itanium(R) 2 Processor-Based Platforms

QuickTransit's Success with ISV and Customer-written Code on Silicon Graphics Prism(TM) Paved the Way for Support of its Deskside and High-end Computing Lines

Transitive(R) Corporation, the leading provider of software that enables transportability of applications across multiple processor and operating system pairs, today announced that its QuickTransit(TM) software will support all of the Intel(R) Itanium(R) 2 processor-based computing platforms from Silicon Graphics(R) (NYSE:SGI). SGI currently ships QuickTransit on its Silicon Graphics Prism(TM) visualization system and will now include the software on its deskside and SGI(R) Altix(R) high-end server platforms. QuickTransit, which Transitive launched in September 2004, allows software applications compiled for one processor and operating system to run on another processor and operating system without any source code or binary changes.

Transitive announced its support for the Silicon Graphics Prism visualization system in October of 2004 and is now expanding its application support to include the entire SGI Intel Itanium 2-based product line, which includes Silicon Graphics Prism visualization system for Linux(R), Silicon Graphics Prism Deskside visualization system and SGI Altix high-performance computing (HPC) servers. With QuickTransit as a component on these new systems users can transparently run any application that currently runs on SGI legacy systems based on the MIPS(R) processor and IRIX(R) operating system on the new systems, without any loss in functionality or performance.

QuickTransit software is currently shipping to customers as a component of the Silicon Graphics Prism family of visualization systems. SGI expects to begin shipping QuickTransit on the SGI Altix line of servers during Q3 2005.
