Optical Solutions Scores GPON Contract With Pinnacle Communications; Carrier is First to Bring Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Network to Arkansas

GPON market leader Optical Solutions Inc. will support its newest customer, Pinnacle Communications, in deploying the state of Arkansas' first FTTH network in the city of Lavaca. The fast-growing river valley community - 15 miles east of Fort Smith - is being completely refurbished with an all-fiber infrastructure, enabling a range of state-of-the-art communication and entertainment services powered by Optical Solutions' FiberPath system.

Pinnacle will deploy Optical Solutions' FiberPath 500 system to 1,800 customers in its Lavaca exchange. The FiberPath GPON system offers superlative bandwidth -- 1.2 Gbps downstream and 622 Mbps upstream -- for delivering advanced voice services, symmetrical high-speed data service and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV). The FiberPath system is fully compliant with ITU FSAN standards, and is the only residential GPON platform that is widely deployed and available today.
