F-Secure Partners With National Cable Television Cooperative; Outsourced Security Service Now Available to All NCTC Members to Protect High Speed Internet Customers

F-Secure(R) Corporation (HEX:FSC), a worldwide leader in outsourced antivirus and spyware protection for cable operators and ISP customers, today announced that the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) has agreed to promote F-Secure services to its entire nationwide membership base as a way to differentiate members' ISP services from competitors and protect high speed Internet customers.
The marketing partnership allows F-Secure services to be offered to millions of high speed cable Internet subscribers throughout the U.S.
F-Secure's comprehensive Internet security services for cable ISP customers includes anti-virus, personal firewall, parental control anti-spam and anti-spyware -- all fully managed and maintained by F-Secure and backed by award winning anti-virus labs in Finland and California. Cable operators are able to instantly offer world class security features to their Internet subscribers while leaving all of the work to F-Secure. F-Secure has been providing its outsourced Security-as-a-Service(TM) to ISPs for more than five years, and is the world's fastest growing company in this market with more than 70 ISP customers globally.
"We developed our Security-as-a-Service model as a way to deliver scalable and economical security protection for all ISP customers, large and small," said Curtis Cresta, Vice President of North American Sales for F-Secure. "We provide an individual subscription management tool and our software allows the flexibility to link back to each individual member's Home and Support pages. We are the only security vendor to do that."
National Cable Television Cooperative represents more than 1,000 independent cable operators, 6,500 individual systems and more than 14 million subscribers in the U.S. NCTC will promote F-Secure's Security-as-a-Service to its members, and has negotiated a discounted price.
"We care a lot about protecting cable Internet customers from the constant stream of new computer threats that are out there," said Alan Tschirner, VP of Hardware at NCTC. "By promoting F-Secure's easy-to-deploy security service to all of our members, we are encouraging good practices and giving our members a way to differentiate their cable Internet services from competitors."
TURN-KEY SECURITY
One of the important benefits of licensing security software as an outsourced service is the ease of deployment and revenue generation.
"The F-Secure solution addresses all of our concerns -- it's what our customers want, it's comprehensive in scope, it's easily deployed and managed, and we're able to sell it at a reasonable price per user," said Ray Spreier, SVP Operations for BendBroadband, the first NCTC member to implement the security services. "A subscriber simply could not purchase and maintain a comparable suite of off-the-shelf products at the price that we'll be able to offer."
