AT&T Wireless Offers 'Free' Ticket to Its EDGE Network

Posted on: Tuesday, 16 December 2003, 06:00 CST

REDMOND, Wash., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- For a limited time, business customers can get a free AT&T Wireless EDGE wireless modem card when they trade-in a similar modem card from any national wireless carrier and sign a two-year contract for unlimited data service.

Eligible business customers taking advantage of the AT&T Wireless trade-in offer will receive a free Sony Ericsson GC-82 PC card when they sign up for a qualified, two-year business agreement and the AT&T Wireless Mobile Internet $79.99 Unlimited data plan by January 31, 2004. Other devices and price plans for EDGE service are also available.

Customers "trading-up" to AT&T Wireless EDGE service will gain access to the fastest national wireless data network in the country, providing unequaled price performance and data speeds nearly twice as fast as any other national wireless network.

When using the EDGE wireless modem card, mobile workers can access the Internet and corporate intranet sites, or download e-mail with attachments with text, graphics or spreadsheets, at speeds averaging 100-130Kbps and bursts up to 200Kbps.

"The EDGE trade-in offer is designed to help businesses cost-effectively optimize their operations by truly mobilizing their workforce," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, enterprise sales for AT&T Wireless. "You could say we want to give enterprise customers an 'EDGE' over their competition."

AT&T Wireless EDGE service is available to 215 million people living and working in more than 6,500 cities and towns, and in areas along 30,000 miles of interstate highways. Customers can also use their devices in areas served by AT&T Wireless GSM/GPRS roaming partners, and receive wireless data connections at GPRS speeds.

"Customers on our EDGE network aren't restricted to a fixed location, and can gain access to information whether they're lunching in Manhattan or sitting in a rental car outside of a client's office in San Francisco," said Bradley.

Enterprise customers can immediately trade-in competitors' modem cards and receive a free EDGE modem card through AT&T Wireless' business sales group. Customers requesting the trade-in from other distribution outlets will be sent a check for the value of the PC card when they mail-in a rebate form and required documentation.
