Former Vice President Al Gore's network, Current TV, hit the air Monday for about 20 U.S. million cable and satellite TV subscribers.
Gore, who is Current chairman, and his Chief Executive Officer Joel Hyatt, announced the launch in a news release from San Francisco.
The network aimed at the 18-34 audience is eschewing traditional long form programs for 5 to 15 minute blasts exploring people, happenings and hot button issues for young adults, the Current release said.
In addition, viewers will be able to choose content via www.current.tv.
Current TV is airing on DIRECTV satellite systems, Comcast and Time Warner cable.
