Cities and Municipalities around the country are evaluating energy efficient, high illuminance street and area lighting to reduce energy consumption, reduce carbon footprints, reduce maintenance costs, improve visibility, and improve public safety. The City of Olathe has purchased Worldwide Energy, Inc.’s LEP-Light Emitting Plasma fixtures to use in their analysis of energy efficient options.

Worldwide Energy, Inc.’s LEP-Light Emitting Plasma street light fixtures are installed in two different locations in Olathe to compare, along with LEP and traditional high illuminance street lighting. Dennis Goodman, Olathe Streetlight Technician, commented, “From what I’ve seen and heard about LEPâ“¢, it will outperform the other light sources in this application”. LEPâ“¢ Street Lighting offers three times longer lifetime hours than traditional lighting, a full color spectrum to emulate daylight and significant reductions in energy consumption and maintenance costs.

The LEPâ“¢ light source is actually the size of a tic-tac®, allowing flexible fixture design in a multiple of applications. Suitable applications for LEPâ“¢ are 250W to 400W Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium (HID) replacement including, Street and Area lighting, Architectural lighting, Parking Lots and Bridges/Tunnels, Sports Arenas and Auto Malls, High Mast and Signage, and Commercial Buildings – Industrial, Manufacturing and Warehouses.
