‘Riese: Kingdom Falling’ Webseries Now Online at Syfy.com, with an Eye Towards Television Development

The critically acclaimed webseries Riese: Kingdom Falling is now airing on Syfy.com every Tuesday and Thursday, 12PM PST. Featuring narration by Amanda Tapping (Sanctuary). Starring Christine Chatelain (Sanctuary), Ben Cotton (Harper’s Island), Patrick Gilmore (Stargate Universe), Alessandro Juliani (Battlestar Gallactic), Allison Mack (Smallville), Ryan Robbins (Sanctuary), Emilie Ullerup (Sanctuary).

Canadian based production company Riese Productions Ltd. launched its award-winning, steampunk fairytale digital series Riese: Kingdom Falling on Syfy.com. Episode will be released every Tuesday and Thursday at 12 PM PST at http://syfy.com/riese, and will also be available via Sony’s PS3, Microsoft’s Xbox and Amazon. Additionally, Syfy Riese: Kingdom Falling will potentially be develop for television depending on the success of the webseries rollout.

Narrated by Amanda Tapping (Sanctuary), the 10-part series stars a collection of local talent including Christine Chatelain (Sanctuary); Sharon Taylor (Smallville); Ben Cotton (Harper’s Island), Allison Mack (Smallville); Ryan Robbins (Sanctuary); Patrick Gilmore (Stargate: Universe); Peter Kelamis (Stargate: Universe); Alessandro Juliani (Battlestar Galactica) and Emilie Ullerup (Sanctuary).

The web production has already made headlines around the globe in the New York Times, The Globe & Mail and the Vancouver Sun. It launched on YouTube in November 2009 and was viewed 1.3 million times before being taken down by its distributor, Fireworks International, a branch of Content Films.

Riese: Kingdom Falling won the Streamy Award for Best Cinematography in a Web Series with a further three nominations for Best Sound Design, Best Foreign Series and Art Direction. The series was shot in Vancouver, BC, created by Ryan Copple and Kaleena Kiff, and produced by Galen Fletcher and Nicholas Humphries.

In addition, the creators of Riese: Kingdom Falling have teamed up with Vancouver based Genius Factor Games to release an iPhone / iPod Touch game to coincide with the launch. Slated for release in late October via iTunes, the virtual RPG card battle game will offer series fans and newcomers alike the chance to utilize alternative media to further enhance the existing story and remain immersed in the haunting world of Riese: Kingdom Falling. It will also feature the voice of web pioneer and trail blazer Felicia Day (The Guild, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog).
