Quest Recovery Manager for Exchange Rapidly and Efficiently Discovers and Recovers Business-Critical Exchange Data; New Version of E-Discovery Solution Aids Electronic Investigations
Posted on: Tuesday, 2 August 2005, 09:00 CDT
Quest Software Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and infrastructure management solutions, today announced the general availability of version 3.0 of Quest Recovery Manager for Exchange. Recovery Manager rapidly and efficiently discovers and recovers business-critical Exchange data from existing backups.
The latest version of the product adds support for additional third-party backup software, and continues to provide search and recovery capabilities for existing backups made from all versions of Exchange. Recovery Manager for Exchange features the ability to conduct keyword searches within messages and the unique ability to search within attachments. The new version includes enhanced intelligent search capabilities and automation of cataloging and recovery tasks. All of these features, including additional new benefits provided in version 3.0, facilitate accurate and timely electronic discovery (e-discovery).
"There could be a million reasons why an organization needs to recover e-mail," said Paula Kingsley, principal, Chappaqua Consulting LLC. "Recovery is painful and costs both time and money. Quest Recovery Manager for Exchange makes recovery a no-brainer."
"E-mail systems serve as the foundation for internal communications and business-critical applications," said Dave Champine, director, Exchange Solutions, Quest Software. "It's not surprising that e-mail is a major target of e-discovery investigations as part of internal investigations or in compliance with regulatory or legal inquiries. Finding the e-mail data you need in these cases, from among hundreds or thousands of backup tapes, can be like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack -- unless you have a product like Recovery Manager."
Highlights of the latest version of Recovery Manager for Exchange include:
-- Support for New Versions of Third-Party Backup Software -- Recovery Manager for Exchange now supports more versions of third-party backup software, including new versions of EMC Legato Networker, Veritas NetBackup and Veritas Backup Exec.
-- Intelligent Search -- Broadens advanced search capabilities by permitting Outlook-style "find all messages from sender,""find all messages sent to the sender of this message,""find all messages with the same subject" and "find all related messages," to further speed e-discovery efforts.
-- Task Automation -- Automates cataloging and recovery operations. A new Task Wizard allows administrators to create backup cataloging and recovery tasks that can be run at any time.
