Avaya Appoints Eileen Rudden Vice President, Enterprise Communications Applications Division

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Avaya Inc. , a leading global provider of communications networks and services for businesses, today announced that it has appointed Eileen Rudden, vice president, Enterprise Communications Applications Division. Rudden will further advance the company's global leadership in IP telephony, and its strategic emphasis on software communications applications.

Reporting directly to Mike Thurk, group vice president, Enterprise Communications Group, Avaya, Rudden will have offices in Concord, Mass., and Basking Ridge, N.J.

Avaya is number one in North America in contact centers, according to Frost and Sullivan (2Q03), and is also number one worldwide in unified messaging, according to Radicati (2Q03). In addition, Avaya ranks number one worldwide in voice messaging, according to In-Stat/MDR (2Q03), and in IP telephony, according to Synergy Research Group (2Q03).

Rudden brings a wealth of experience in enterprise software to Avaya from FORTUNE 500(r) and startup environments. Her experience includes more than 14 years with Lotus/IBM with an emphasis on business alliances, product marketing and product development. She led the Communications Products Division and was responsible for worldwide business performance with more than 1,000 people in development, product management and marketing. Under her leadership revenue for Notes/Domino tripled to $700 million worldwide while users grew from 5 million to 50 million in four years. Prior to Lotus, Rudden was at Wang Laboratories and The Boston Consulting Group. Most recently Rudden was President and CEO of Fairmarket, Inc., and affiliated with Axxon Capital.

In addition to her extensive business background, Rudden is very active at Brown University where she is the President of the Alumni Association and a member of the Board of Trustees. She currently lives with her family in Cambridge, Mass. She is a native of Nutley, N.J.
