Micro-Donation Startup SwipeGood Launches a Simple Way for Consumers to Do Good Every Time They Buy
Today SwipeGood is announcing the launch of their online giving platform which allows consumers to enroll their debit/credit card and do a little bit of good every time they make a purchase. By rounding up all credit/debit purchases made to the nearest dollar, SwipeGood leverages behavior-generated content and the power of financial data to turn consumer spending into a powerful fundraising platform.

SwipeGood.com is launching a brand new way for consumers to donate to their favorite charity while shopping, effectively turning their credit cards to fundraising machines.
Each time a user makes a purchase, SwipeGood rounds up the transaction amount to the nearest dollar and donates the change to a charity or cause that the user selected. This brand-new donation approach eliminates the need to decide when and how much to give by allowing people to automatically do good every time they buy.

SwipeGood has been in private beta for the last month working with their first partner charity DonorsChoose.org ““ a non-profit that provides a way for people to donate directly to specific projects at public schools and has helped more then 3 million students.
During the private beta, SwipeGood gained important insights into the giving and spending habits of users. “We have learned that our users are on average doing 40 transactions per month and the typical round up amount is $0.50. That means our users are donating an average of $20 per month. Taking these numbers into consideration, it will only take 4,000 users to drive $1 million in donations per year,” says Founder Anthony Nemitz, who came up with the original idea for SwipeGood in September this year.
On that same note, Thomas Steinacher, the technical Co-Founder, broke down the math: “With 10 million users we can raise $2 billion for charity every year. That’s enough to educate 225,000 kids or purchase 50,000,000 textbooks per year! The potential impact of SwipeGood is massive.”
SwipeGood has also just launched a new Blippy application today which allows users to harness the same round up power every time they write a review on the popular purchase review website.
