Posted on: Tuesday, 2 August 2005, 12:00 CDT

MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Abraxas Corporation, a global risk mitigation services provider headquartered in McLean, Virginia, announced that it has been chosen by the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) as the 2005 "Hot Ticket" award recipient for the "Hottest Bootstrap." This award goes to the company that has built a significant presence or shown tremendous growth potential without relying on institutional investors. According to NVTC, the Hot Ticket Awards celebrate the efforts of entrepreneurial companies and individuals in the tech community who have exhibited that "special something" that makes them Hot Tickets -- great vision, the ability to implement and deliver, innovative management approach and star-quality charisma. The panel of judges (comprised of local executives) reviewed nearly 100 companies in the region and selected winners in five different categories.

"We are honored to be recognized by the Northern Virginia Technology Counsel and to be selected from such an esteemed group of our peers," said Richard D. Calder, President of Abraxas Corporation. "Our success is a testament to the sophistication and talents of our employees and the strength of our commitment to offer the highest quality services available in the marketplace. This award from NVTC is the latest validation of that commitment. As last year's recipient of the Rising Star Award from the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Program in Virginia and also ranking as the 7th fastest growing new company in the nation by the Deloitte Technology Fast 500, we truly believe that success is assured when you have exceptional people engaged in work they love to do."
