Touchtown Launches At Your Serviceâ„¢ for Independent and Assisted Living Providers
Combining resort-style personalized communication with fail-safe on-demand emergency response, Touchtown At Your Service̢Ң offers a compelling differentiator for providers
Oakmont, PA (Vocus) November 15, 2010
Touchtown, Inc. announces the commercial release of At Your Service, a suite of products that delivers a fresh and innovative approach to resident emergency response in senior living communities. “As At Your Service evolved during its early design stages we quickly discovered most senior living communities really didn’t like the fact that they had to make a sizeable investment in a system that they only used occasionally,” explains Touchtown CEO, Jeff Pepper. “As a result, we set out to bring to market an advanced emergency response product that offered real benefits every day. So in addition to bringing innovations to the personal emergency response like a fail-safe mesh network and highly accurate real-time location sensing for resident emergency assistance, we added concierge-like messaging and communication to make it easy for communities to increase the level of service they provide to their independent and assisted living residents.”
At Your Service is currently being deployed at a number of forward-thinking senior living communities in North America. A prime example of such a community is Holly Creek a Christian Living Communities property in Centennial, Colorado. “Touchtown At Your Service has given us a competitive advantage in our market. We can offer a much higher level of personalized service, and in emergency situations we know it’s going to be there even if the power is out, and the phones and the Internet are down,” says Russ DenBraber, President & CEO of Christian Living Communities.
At Your Service relies on ZigBee mesh network technology to ensure rock-solid performance throughout the community even if there is a total loss of electrical power, internet and phone service. Mesh networks do not require the expensive wiring and property modifications typical of other personal emergency response systems that are WiFi-based. With At Your Service’s Plug and Go Installation, a community can be up and running in days instead of weeks at a fraction of the cost associated with WiFi systems.
At the heart of the concierge service capabilities that At Your Service offers is the in-room touch screen Panel. The Panel provides a senior-friendly messaging environment that makes it easy to offer a wide variety of service options: day to day message reminders to individuals or groups of residents; private daily check-in; one-touch help button with voice message features, resident face sheet profiles for first responders, and a fail-safe method to communicate urgent messages quickly and efficiently including notification lights and a variety of sounds. In addition to the Panels, residents can get on-demand help through At Your Service’s Pendant and Pull Cord, which like the Panel, offer voice-messaging capability. The At Your Service Pendant accurately pinpoints where a resident is located when help is requested due to a patent-pending real-time location sensing (RTLS) algorithm. “We heard a lot of stories about how other pendants on the market left a good bit to be desired when it came to locating a resident call for help with accuracy especially outside of living areas.” Pepper remarked, “We not only pinpoint where a resident is within a few meters, our solar-powered locators can cover an entire campus at a significantly lower cost.”
