Tallahassee, FL (PRWEB) November 18, 2010

On May 29, 2011 riders will depart from the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge on a 8000 km (5000 mile) journey to Newfoundland. Along the way the tour, hosted by bike tour company Tour d’Afrique, will stop at five Trips for Kids Chapters. Riders and staff of the cycling tour will be making donations to these chapters:

–     TFK Yarmouth, Nova Scotia run by TFK volunteer Jack Harding

–     TFK Chicago Voyagers, in Illinois, a part of the Chicago Voyagers program.

–     TFK Pontiac, Michigan operated by the Baldwin Center

–     TFK Marin, San Francisco, CA operated by TFK founder Marilyn Price

–     TFK Tallahassee, FL operated by Ken Foster of Bicycle Tallahassee.

Operating in the United States, Canada and Israel, Trips For Kids® (TFK®) has opened the world of cycling to over 60,000 at-risk youth through mountain bike rides and Earn-A-Bike programs.

“Cycling is a great way to introduce kids to a healthy lifestyle and the environment” said Tour d’Afrique Foundation director Paul McManus. Trips for Kids Chapters are getting tens of thousands of kids on bikes that otherwise would never have the opportunity.”

Tour d’Afrique Foundation gives back to the communities each tour travels through by supporting organizations that improve peoples’ lives through the use of a bicycle. The Foundation has donated more than1300 bikes and raised more than one million dollars for various charities.
