Tekscan, a Boston-based manufacturer of pressure mapping systems, announced today the release of the F-Scan® Wireless – an in-shoe pressure mapping system for collecting pressure and force measurement data without any cables connecting the subject to the computer!

Boston, MA (PRWEB) November 19, 2010

Tekscan, a Boston-based manufacturer of pressure mapping systems, announced today the release of the F-Scan® Wireless – an in-shoe pressure mapping system for collecting pressure and force measurement data without any cables connecting the subject to the computer!

New Wireless Capability Revolutionizes Pressure Mapping

The 14 oz. wireless unit, attached to the subject’s waist, directly transmits pressure and force data from the paper-thin (.015 mm) in-shoe sensors in real time to the computer. Designed to allow data collection without altering natural movement, data is wirelessly transmitted to the computer by subjects who can travel up to 100 meters away. With scan rates of up to 100 Hz for each sensor, the system will capture every event inside the shoe.

F-Scan System Provides a View Inside the Shoe

The F-Scan system captures dynamic in-shoe pressure and force information. The sensors are placed underneath the plantar surface of the foot to reveal the interaction between the foot and footwear. The F-Scan also quantifies timing and Center of Force trajectory. The software displays graphic data to analyze foot function and gait, and presents what is happening inside the shoe, frame-by-frame, for detailed analysis.

Wireless Pressure Mapping Allows For Easy Data Collection and Immediate Feedback

  •     For Clinicians: Increase Successful Treatment Outcomes, Patient Satisfaction and Referrals

The F-Scan Wireless provides clinicians with more answers by freeing them from the limitations of traditional examinations. The wireless system’s quick and simple set up takes just minutes, ensuring effective time management of appointments. Patient satisfaction is increased by offering more effective treatments and decreasing the amount of follow-up visits. Referral rates will grow as a natural result.

  •     For Researchers: Full Suite of Gait and Foot Function Analysis Tools

The F-Scan examines many biomechanical parameters, such as pressures and forces during gait displayed in time graphs, position and trajectories for the Center of Force (CoF) during stance phases of gait, and impulse (force-time) and integral (pressure-time) values. The software allows for an unparalleled understanding of what is occurring during the gait cycle.

  •     For Athletics: Improve Athletic Performance with Proper Insoles and Footwear Flexion

Without wires interfering, the system can be used for athletes in almost any sport–baseball, basketball, soccer, football and more! Improves performance by helping athletes select the proper footwear and insoles.

Tekscan’s pressure mapping systems are used by prominent universities, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and corporations around the world to measure pressure in a variety of applications.
