Memova(TM) Expected To Drive Mass-Market Adoption of Mobile Email with New Consumer-Friendly Experience Now Available to Indosat's 12.87 Million Subscribers
Critical Path, Inc. (Nasdaq:CPTH), a leading provider of messaging software and services, today announced that IndosatM2, a leading Internet and multimedia service provider in Indonesia, together with its holding company Indosat Tbk, has launched a new consumer email service using Memova(TM) Mobile from Critical Path. The new service, which is now available and being marketed by Indosat under the brand name i-Memova,(TM) is expected to increase consumer usage of mobile email by providing a user-friendly, push email experience on affordable consumer phones, and by offering rich multimedia capabilities and giving users better control over the mobile email messages they receive.
Unlike other mobile email services targeted at enterprise or executive users, the i-Memova service specifically addresses the needs of consumers in the mass market. It works on inexpensive MMS-enabled handsets and enables users to send and receive multimedia emails with colorful images, video and sound. In addition, users can specify which email messages they want to receive on their mobile phone.
"While demand for mobile email solutions is increasing everyday, we recognize that consumer priorities and behaviors are very different from executive users," said Brata T. Hardjosubroto, CEO IndosatM2. "In order to successfully meet that demand, we need to offer subscribers a mobile email service that is easier to use, more affordable and more multimedia-rich than enterprise-oriented services. With our new i-Memova service, we expect we can improve our customers' email experience and drive significant revenue growth."
Because most consumers do not necessarily want to receive all of their email on their mobile phone, Memova Mobile suggests which messages users might want to receive and then enables users to set mobile email preferences and priorities with a few simple clicks. This feature eliminates the threat of mobile spam and differentiates the user experience from other solutions, making it more consumer-oriented. Additionally, with no software to install on the phone, the one-step set-up process can be done on the handset or on the operator's Web site, and it is simple and easy to understand.
"Memova Mobile is an innovative approach to mobile email that enables operators to drive revenue by leveraging untapped opportunities in the consumer mass market," said Mike Serbinis, CTO, Critical Path. "Consumers don't want to receive all of their email on their mobile phone; they want messages from important friends, colleagues and family members. Unlike other solutions, Memova Mobile gives users the messages that matter and provides a seamless push experience on everyday handsets at a price consumers can afford."
