Beatles Hit It Big In First Week On iTunes

Billboard announced on Tuesday that the Beatles have already sold over 450,000 albums and more than two million individual songs in the week since their music appeared on Apple's iTunes.

Billboard said the best-selling album in the U.S. was "Abbey Road" and the best-selling song was "Here Comes the Sun."

"Here Comes the Sun" was number 54 on the iTunes list of the top 100 best-selling singles on Tuesday followed by "Let it Be" at number 60, "In My Life" at number 74, "Come Together" at number 90 and "Blackbird" at number 97.

"The Beatles 1967-1970" was number 30 followed by "The Beatles 1962-1966" at number 40.  The complete "Beatles Box Set," which sells for $149, was at number 42.

Apple's iTunes started to sell the music of the Beatles on November 16 after years of tortuous negotiations between Apple Inc. and the Beatle's management company Apple Corp., along with their record label, EMI Group.

ITunes is the world's number 1 digital music retailer.
