Limina Collaborates with Prime Contractor DRT Strategies on SBA.gov Redesign

User experience research and design firm debuts in government arena with SBA.gov’s innovative shift in web-based government services, providing new tools and user experiences for small business owners to quickly and easily access the resources they need to succeed and create jobs

Limina Application Office, LLC. joins prime contractor, DRT Strategies, to announce the launch of the first phase in a significant web redesign project to overhaul the U. S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) website, SBA.gov, meeting the agency’s mission to provide timely, accurate and relevant information to the nation’s more than 29 million small businesses. The new site features the SBA Direct, the dynamic and interactive new web application that serves up personalized information based on specific characteristics unique to each user.

The centerpiece application of the web redesign project is SBA Direct, which provides a personalized, interactive, and transactional experience for each user. SBA Direct allows visitors to personalize their experience according to their business type, geography and needs. SBA Direct then delivers, much like a “concierge service,” relevant and targeted information on all aspects of running a business such as the steps involved in getting started, business growth strategies, financial assistance, training, government contracting, and how to stay compliant with current laws and regulations.

SBA Direct’s unique search interface is in a beta-development stage and further enhancements are expected. No other government site has provided a service such as this, built on a completely new software platform, with the ultimate objective of helping small businesses start, grow, and prosper.

DRT Strategies, a management consulting firm and leading provider of information technology and program management services, selected Limina to collaborate on the SBA.gov redesign following their joint efforts on a comprehensive web evaluation, stakeholder and user reviews, web-statistical analysis and web strategy and recommendations report.

Limina’s key contributions to the SBA redesign effort include:

  •     Conducting a comprehensive web evaluation: Reviewing the former SBA.gov and its counterpart, Business.gov for opportunities to enhance the user experience. Limina’s review covered a wide range of usability and UI design criteria which culminated in a 60 page web analysis technical memo.
  •     User Experience Strategy: Limina worked with DRT to define the full scope of SBA Direct, which will eventually be a personalized transactional portal for small business owners and their interactions with the SBA.
  •     Defining and Enhancing the User Experience: Addressing issues of usability by defining and designing an interaction model and user interface for the SBA Direct.
  •     Visual Asset Production: Limina delivered key visual assets that contribute to the look and feel of the home page, SBA Direct and the various landing pages of SBA.gov.

DRT Strategies selected Limina to join a first class team of small business partners, which also included The Push Group and Promet Source.
