Telecom Leaders Gather at the 2011 NTCA Annual Meeting & EXPO
Premier event unites industry leaders, solution providers to discuss national broadband plan and net neutrality
ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The rural telecom industry will discuss and debate the national broadband plan (NBP) and net neutrality issues at the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association’s Annual Meeting & EXPO, February 13-16 in Dallas, Texas.
Blair Levin, one of the leading authors of the NBP, will join NTCA members Delbert Wilson, general manager of Hill Country Telephone (Ingram, Texas) and Randy Houdek, general manager of Venture Communications (Highmore, S.D.) for a point/counterpoint discussion of the FCC’s proposed NBP and its impact on rural consumers. NTCA Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield will moderate the discussion.
The NBP conversation will continue during the second general session with a debate over federal regulatory reforms. Industry leaders, including representatives from competitive local exchange carriers, large incumbent local exchange carriers, and the wireless and cable sectors, will discuss their expectations for reform. Panelists include Bill Haas, vice president of public policy and regulatory for PAETEC Holdings Inc., and Maggie McCready, executive director of public policy at Verizon.
