BILLERICA, Mass., Jan. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Vertica Systems, the leading provider of real-time analytics platforms, today announced that 2010 was a record-breaking year with significant momentum in sales, customer wins, and headcount for the company. During 2010, Vertica saw both revenues and customers increase by more than 100 percent, reaching 328 customers by the end of 2010. Driven by the adoption of Vertica’s industry-leading technology within every major vertical and segment, Vertica also doubled headcount to more than 100 employees, establishing a worldwide presence with significant hires in every functional area.

“I joined Vertica because the technology and development team are the best in the industry,” said Vertica Systems president and CEO, Christopher Lynch. “And I knew I could build world-class sales, marketing and finance organizations to match. Since April, we’ve more than doubled the company in every meaningful metric – revenue, customer wins and headcount – and we still haven’t fully hit our stride. 2011 will be an incredible year, and we’re starting off strong with some very big wins, including AOL and other household names we’ll announce very soon.”

Vertica made significant additions to the company’s leadership team, naming Ed Filippine as VP America’s Sales and Worldwide Operations and Scott Howser as VP of Product Marketing. Ed has direct revenue responsibility for Vertica’s Americas sales and channel business, as well as the company’s sales systems, sales development and sales training worldwide. Scott is responsible for Vertica’s product messaging, corporate branding and establishing best practices for deployment and solution architectures. Scott and Ed join a senior management team poised to take Vertica to the next level and manage the explosive growth created by the universal adoption of the Vertica Analytics Platform within top-tier organizations.

“Vertica has customers with installations ranging from gigabytes to petabytes,” said Scott Howser, Vertica’s VP of Product Marketing. “And ranging in size from start-ups to the Fortune 100. The common thread among our customers is their ability to turn massive amounts of data into actionable information in near real-time. In today’s economy, information is king, and Vertica is uniquely positioned to deliver the next-generation analytics infrastructure.”
