Dj Chris Moyles has helped Radio 1 achieve its highest audience in two years, new listening figures have revealed. The station has added more than half a million listeners in the past year to reach an audience of more than 10 million.
Breakfast DJ Moyles has increased his audience to 6.26 million - his second highest rating since taking over from Sara Cox.
An extra 470,000 listeners have tuned in to his show in the past year.
The figures released by industry body Rajar cover the second quarter of 2005.
In Wales, more than 380,000 listeners have been tuning into BBC Radio Wales each week and 185,000 listen to the Welsh language channel BBC Radio Cymru.
The commercial stations are also claiming success with 265,000 people tuning into Cardiff-based Red Dragon FM and 378,000 switching on Real Radio, which is based in Morganstown, near Cardiff.
But Classic FM is still the UK's largest commercial radio station with 6.3 million people now listening to it each week.
Moyles is not the only Radio 1 DJ to pile on listeners. Daytime presenters Scott Mills, Jo Whiley, and Colin and Edith have all registered big rises.
Cox celebrated her return to the station after maternity leave with an audience of 1.55 million for her Saturday show, up 180,000 on the same period last year.
BBC radio overall now has nearly 33 million listeners every week
