An American Airlines flight from Tucson had to be evacuated upon landing in Texas on Tuesday morning after a flight attendant reported smelling an electrical odor, an official said.
The plane, carrying 101 passengers, three pilots and two flight attendants, was evacuated within minutes using a rear slide. The travelers were then bused to the terminal at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, said Tim Wagner, an airlines spokesman.
"We do not know what caused the electrical smell, but it usually happens when a light bulb or fuse goes out," he said.
Flight 584 left Tucson at 8:34 a.m. and landed at the Dallas/ Fort Worth airport at 12:50 p.m. CDT as scheduled, Wagner said.
There were no problems during the flight and all passengers were able to make their connections.
Wagner said this type of incident is not common, and proper procedures were followed during the evacuation.
The plane, an MD-80, was being inspected Tuesday, Wagner said.
