Gupta Announces Team Developer 2005.1

Posted on: Monday, 8 August 2005, 09:00 CDT

Gupta Technologies, LLC, a world leader in software development and data management solutions, today announced that Team Developer 2005.1 will be publicly available beginning August 22, 2005. The latest version of the cross-platform development tool addresses demand for flexible application development by SMBs, ISVs and VARs, and allows developers to write and deploy rich business applications on Windows and Linux with full source-code compatibility.

Team Developer 2005.1 introduces many new benefits, including powerful OOP-to-XML interfaces, enhanced Linux database support for MySQL and other open source databases, and major enhancements to Report Builder, GUPTA's reporting solution. The new version of Report Builder, which can also be purchased as a standalone reporting solution, provides organizations with an easy to use dynamic reporting tool with open database connectivity. New features in Report Builder include the ability to display and print pictures and images stored in various supported databases in long, binary columns.

"For fast, efficient development of rich-client business applications, IT departments, VARs and ISVs should consider a cross-platform strategy that includes not only Windows-based applications, but Linux-based applications as well," said Mark Driver, Research VP at Gartner. "A cross-platform strategy ensures that organizations are leveraging best-of-breed technologies to solve business problems and keeps them from becoming too dependent on any one vendor. This strategy becomes increasingly beneficial as mixed environments become more and more ubiquitous."

XML has become the de-facto industry standard for data exchange between software systems. The powerful and easy-to-use XML features in Team Developer 2005.1 allow for quick and easy data import and export into Team Developer applications, the ability to write SQL query results to XML, and a new class library for full XML file manipulation.

"Team Developer 2005.1 builds on GUPTA's mission to provide ISVs and VARs with an alternative solution for developing secure, dynamic business applications for both Windows and Linux operating systems," said Chuck W. Stevenson, GUPTA's chief technology officer. "It's been GUPTA's goal for more than twenty years to continually provide organizations with tools that improve their business. Our robust business applications and cross-platform strategy not only improve profit margins and time to market, but create tangible new business opportunities for our customers as well."

GUPTA created Team Developer in 1990 as the first database 4GL RAD tool for Windows. Originally developed for Windows, it is now available for both Windows and Linux platforms, offering superior development speed and full cross-platform support, providing customers with the opportunity to choose with operating system they prefer.

Team Developer 2005.1 for Windows and for Linux will be available August 22, 2005, at which time users can try the product for free by downloading it from the GUPTA Web site at: http://www.guptaworldwide.com/Products/DownloadsDisplay.aspx?ProdID=2.
