CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 22, 2003--Canoga Perkins, a leading supplier of fiber optic extension equipment and cost effective WDM systems, announced today it is releasing an enhanced Video Conferencing Optical Extender called the 3310 Mark II VCOE.
The 3310 Mark II Video Conferencing Optical Extender (VCOE) is designed to extend the distance between endpoints of video conferencing systems up to 10 km using fiber optics. The 3310 Mark II is used to interconnect a video codec to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) equipment or it can be used to connect two video codecs together over a private fiber optic network. A DTE/DCE crossover function is built-in as a standard feature to simplify this application.
The 3310 Mark II VCOE is designed to operate in increments of 56 Kbps or 64 Kbps up to a single full 1.544 Mbps ISDN Primary Rate Interface (PRI). The 3310 VCOE extends the clock/data and dialer circuits on the channel side of the demarcation device supporting fractional T-1, individual or bonded ISDN Basic Rate Interface applications. It is equipped with built-in RS-366 dialer interfaces for user convenience. In addition, it offers comprehensive local and remote diagnostics to pinpoint issues quickly and has a power-on self-test feature with LCD display.
The 3310 Mark II VCOE is designed to work with, and has undergone interoperability testing with industry leading video conferencing equipment from vendors such as PictureTel/Polycom, Tandburg, VTEL, Adtran and Madge.
The 3310 Mark II VCOE is flexible and can handle applications using 850 nm or 1310 nm optics over 50/125 or 62.5/125 multimode fiber optic cable or 8-10/125 single mode fiber optic cable. Fiber optics adds security and reliability with a composite error rate of 10(-10)* or better for a reliable system. The 3310 Mark II VCOE carries a limited lifetime warranty to ensure customer satisfaction.
Jack Buhn, Canoga Perkins President and CEO, stated, "We see video as a rapidly growing area and intend to expand presence in this market. In addition to our video conferencing extension products, we are involved in the Distance Learning market with our other fiber optic video products."
