STC Assists State Immunization Programs to Receive Funding and Improve Functionality Through The Prevention and Public Health Fund

The Affordable Care Act recently created The Prevention and Public Health Fund. According to Healthcare.gov, the goal of this bill is “to assist state and community efforts to prevent illness and promote health, so that all Americans can lead longer, more productive lives.” A Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) entitled “Capacity Building Assistance to Strengthen Public Health Immunization Infrastructure and Performance” has been released through the Prevention and Public Health Fund. This FOA has proven both exciting and complex for state immunization programs across the country.

This grant addresses six specific areas within current immunization programs. o Program Area 4: Implement strategic plans for billing immunization services

o IIS Billing Module

o Program Area 5: Plan and implement adult immunization programs

o Health promotion module and Immunization Forecaster for Adults

o Program Area 6: Enhance school-located vaccination programs

o School nurse module and Immunization Forecaster for Students

These products integrate with any existing IIS (COTS, legacy, or open source). STC also has a knowledgeable public health team with extensive grant writing experience that provides professional services in support of these grant opportunities.
