Minimizer once again exhibited with a strong presence at the Mid America Trucking Show held in Louisville, Kentucky March 31 ““ April 2, 2011. It was the shows 40th Anniversary.
While at the show, Minimizer was proud to show its support for the third year in a row of the Arrow Truck Sales “Back On The Roadâ“¢ 2011″ award for a trucker in need. As in past years, Dave Nemo, a Sirius XM satellite radio personality, and Country Music Star, Aaron Tippin hosted the emotional ceremony.
The winner was David Acosta of Orlando, Florida. He was selected as the Back On the Road 2011 driver. As the winner of Back On The Road, David received a 2007 Volvo VNL 780, courtesy of Volvo Trucks North America, a one-year work agreement with Heartland Express and other products and services.
Minimizer’s played a significant role in the award package. David received a $5,000 check from Minimizer that he can use to help him get on his feet today. And his truck was outfitted with customized paintable Minimizer fenders and bracket kits.
Now in its fourth year, “Back On The RoadTM” is an initiative designed to benefit a deserving trucker in need of a truck and a job. Truckers from across the nation who have lost their truck, and their livelihood, through unfortunate circumstances beyond their control, can submit their story for consideration.
“We really enjoy being a part of this project,” said Craig Kruckeberg, Minimizer’s Chief Visionary. “The story of Mr. Acosta is an inspiration for us all. It’s an example of hardship meets hard work, the guy deserves the help and it’s our pleasure to be there for him.”
The past several years brought hardship to David Acosta and his family. He’s the breadwinner for the family. His wife stays at home taking care of their two daughters, Amanda and Shequina. Amanda suffers from nephritic syndrome, a serious condition that affects her kidneys.
The economic impact his Acosta’s loads and routes hard. His loads shrunk, and his old truck had mounting repair bills. Coupled with medical bills, he lost his truck and has almost lost his home.
Now, he’s got a second chance.
“Winning Back On The Road is a blessing for not only me but my entire family,” said Acosta. “It’s been a difficult couple of years and winning this will help provide my daughter with the medicine she needs to live and my family with a means to survive. And the $5,000 from Minimizer is critical to getting back on our feet today.”
“The show was a tremendous success,” said Steve Hansen, National Accounts Sales Manager for Minimizer. “The Mid America Trucking Show always delivers for us. It was a tremendous experience being a part of Back On The Roadâ“¢ 2011 again and meeting so many good people at our booth. We heard a lot of stories about how durable the Minimizer fenders are and how much people love them. Our sales team hardly had to sell, we just let current customers tell the story!”
