eMeter Awards Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative 2011 Customer Engagement Award

May 10, 2011

SAN MATEO, Calif. and BASTROP, Texas, May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — eMeter Corporation, a leader in Smart Grid management software and Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, one of the largest electric cooperatives in Texas, today announced that Bluebonnet is the recipient of eMeter’s 2011 Customer Engagement Award.

eMeter announced Bluebonnet’s award at the 2011 eMeter Leadership Conference, taking place May 9-11, 2011 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. The conference brings together industry leaders in Smart Meter data management to discuss current trends and best practices, share ideas and experiences, and connect with like-minded professionals.

eMeter has recognized Bluebonnet for its use of eMeter’s EnergyIP Meter Data Management platform coupled with eMeter’s Energy Engage consumer Web portal. This award-winning initiative provides Bluebonnet’s members easily accessible and understandable daily electricity use and cost information to encourage greater conservation.

“We are honored to receive this award from eMeter,” said Mark Rose, Bluebonnet’s chief executive officer. “Our partnership with eMeter allows us to provide our members with the information they need to be better consumers of energy. We believe our members should have the same timely access to their energy use as they have to their cell phone minutes or bank balances. Energy Engage makes this possible.”

Bluebonnet seamlessly integrated the Energy Engage portal into its website and configured it to present members their cost, usage, and environmental impact information, making it the centerpiece of members’ online experience. Ultimately, the portal proactively engages members with daily consumption data and cost-saving tips on electricity usage and even updates via email or SMS.

“Bluebonnet’s initiative to truly engage its customer base with easily understandable energy usage data stands out as an example to follow,” said Gary Bloom, chief executive officer at eMeter. “The energy conservation and overall peak load reductions this consumer engagement effort has yielded make them a very deserving winner of our 2011 eMeter Customer Engagement Award.”
