As the go-to online community for kids, imbee is committed to raising awareness about cyberbullying, creating a real-time forum for kids to discuss the issue, providing them with realistic tools to combat it and creating content that helps them deal with the issue. In addition, imbee is implementing a zero-tolerance policy for bullying on the site and is asking all of its partners to commit to the No Bully Zone campaign. Online, imbee users, partners and parents will be able to tag their personal Zones with a No Bully Zone eSticker and offline, imbee users, partners and kids can display the No Bully Zone sticker on their business or personal items.

The No Bully Zone campaign includes:

  • User’s Pledge: imbee users are encouraged to take the No Bully Zone pledge on the site and display the No Bully Zone eSticker on their personal Zone.
  • Partner’s Commitment: imbee is asking all of our partners and sponsors to make a commitment to fight cyberbullying and display the No Bully Zone sticker on their imbee Fan Zone and in their place of business.
  • No Bully Zone Fan Zone: imbee has created a safe, interactive No Bully Zone Fan Zone on the site where users can find information about cyberbullying, share stories via the written word, post videos and information, download practical tips or watch imbee’s cyberbullying public service announcement.

Additional resources for kids, parents and educators will be developed in the coming months and will be available on the site.

“There has been a lot of buzz in the news about the explosion of cyberbullying among kids,” said Alan Anderson, imbee’s CEO. “imbee recognizes it as a problem for our kids and is offering real and practical advice about how to deal with it, consulting with experts in the field and making imbee a zero-tolerance No Bully Zone. The No Bully Zone will continue to evolve and grow on the site as imbee gets feedback from users, launches new features, introduces new content, adds additional partners and works with more parents and educators on spreading the word.”

Helping imbee launch the No Bully Zone is America’s leading “Textpert” and cyberbullying prevention expert, Shawn Marie Edgington. Edgington is the author of the new best seller The Parent’s Guide to Texting, Facebook, and Social Media: Understanding the Benefits and Dangers of Parenting in a Digital World. Edgington is on a mission to help protect our kids against the dangers that exist on the wild, wild web, and wants every parent to know that no child is immune. Personally, Edgington knows first-hand the devastating effects of cyberbullying, as her child was cyberbullied in school. “I applaud the long-term approach imbee has taken, and look forward to working with imbee to globally promote a safe online environment for our kids, free of cyberbullying.”
