Road Repairs Stall Traffic Along I-95

Posted on: Thursday, 11 August 2005, 18:00 CDT

Traffic slowed to a crawl on northbound Interstate 95 on Saturday because of overpass repairs south of the Fuller Warren Bridge, Florida Department of Transportation spokesman Mike Goldman said.

Lanes will be closed through today for repairs on the overpass pavement, Goldman said. The repairs, for wear and tear on the road, had been scheduled for at least a week.

The traffic, which was backed up to near Baymeadows Road, was just a matter of having fewer lanes for the typical amount of people, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Two lanes were shut down, leaving one open.

When traffic began backing up Saturday, Department of Transportation workers put up signs to attempt to divert traffic, Goldman said. The roadwork also was announced earlier in the week, he said.
