Continual, accurate and timely updates to GIS and CAD databases are critical, enabling decision-makers to access current and relevant information. With a new ‘”Live Link,” users can simultaneously work within ERDAS IMAGINE and GeoMedia to collect and update new information about the changing earth.

“Accurately-processed imagery and terrain data provide a solid reference source for vector and attribute updates,” said Mladen Stojic, SVP Product Management & Marketing, ERDAS. “We are excited to introduce a means to simultaneously utilize ERDAS IMAGINE’s raster capabilities and Geomedia’s rich set of vector handling tools.”

Within ERDAS IMAGINE, users will have access to a sophisticated set of assisted feature collection capabilities and quantitative image processing that will support the extraction of information about the earth such as change detection, land cover information, vegetation health and impervious surface. Within GeoMedia, users will have access to a rich set of vector collection and editing tools along with rich symbology and cartographic production capabilities. Together, the applications will be linked to support synchronized data sharing, viewing, editing, update and analysis.

“Intergraph GeoMedia and ERDAS IMAGE together provide users with a complete set of tools for the collection and editing of earth feature data, as well as the creation and maintenance of geospatial data warehouses and geospatial products,” said Mark Doherty, Chief Technology Officer, Intergraph Corporation. “These complementary technologies reduce time and effort across the geospatial workflow.”

Change detection presents another opportunity to integrate the specialties of ERDAS IMAGINE and Geomedia to create efficient geospatial solutions. ERDAS IMAGINE already includes sophisticated change detection algorithms to detect change of the same spatial area at over different time periods. With the ‘Live Link,’ users can leverage Geomedia’s vector handling abilities to update and reflect vector and attribute change that has been identified by ERDAS IMAGINE. This scalable solution is suitable for county GIS applications, corridor-mapping, national defense and more.

At the conference, recorded breakout sessions highlighting this technology include ERDAS & Intergraph SG&I’s Product Integration Plans: Today and Tomorrow and Motion Video Exploitation & ERDAS Change Detection.

Leveraging the growing synergies between ERDAS and Intergraph, the data revision workflows are an emerging technology included in the processing component of Hexagon’s Dynamic GIS, an integrated geospatial system capable of translating change, on the fly, into actionable information. The Dynamic GIS supports the complete geospatial information lifecycle: capturing geospatial imagery using sensor technology; processing vector, raster and terrain data into actionable information; managing, fusing, and sharing geospatial data across departments and regions; and finally, rapidly and securely delivering integrated information products, ensuring the right individuals can make timely decisions.
