Sprint To Sell Motorola Photon 4G
Motorola Mobility produced its first high-speed wireless phone, the Photon 4G, which will be on sale this summer through Sprint Nextel and be based on the carrier's new WiMax technology.
WiMax technology by Sprint has been hyped up to be faster than any current devices.
Motorola initially held off on production of WiMax phones since top U.S. services Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc. moved to rival high-speed technologies, reports Reuters.
However, when Verizon began selling the Apple iPhone in February, Motorola felt the need to win new operator customers with the high-speed phone.
In addition, as competition stiffens from both bigger and smaller rivals, Sprint, the No. 3 U.S. mobile provider aims to differentiate itself with advanced devices.
