Ohio Manufacturer Receives the 2011 Edison Center Award for Excellence

American Trim, an Ohio based manufacturing company, receives the 2011 Edison Center Award for Excellence for showing innovation in manufacturing that lead to jobs being retained and brought to the state of Ohio. This award comes from efforts by American Trim, in collaboration with Edison Materials Technology Center (EMTEC), to commercialize the use of fuel cells through improving the cost model and efficiency in production of a fuel cell stack.

American Trim, an Ohio based manufacturing company, receives the 2011 Edison Center Award for Excellence for showing innovation in manufacturing that lead to jobs being retained and brought to the state of Ohio. This award comes from efforts by American Trim, in collaboration with Edison Materials Technology Center (EMTEC), to commercialize the use of fuel cells through improving the cost model and efficiency in production of a fuel cell stack.

Manufacturing in the state of Ohio is the largest sector of its economy. According to The Ohio Manufacturers’ Association – Ohio Manufacturing Counts Report, the manufacturing industry employs half a million people and ranks third in the nation in manufacturing output and employment. American Trim’s manufacturing capabilities are focused around metal forming, decorating, and coating of various substrates and composite substrates.

Each year The House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio honors companies that have shown initiative to grow the state of Ohio’s economy through job creation and retention by means of manufacturing innovations. This award comes from efforts by American Trim, in collaboration with Edison Materials Technology Center (EMTEC), to commercialize the use of fuel cells through improving the cost model and efficiency in production of a fuel cell stack. The company has made significant progress in the area of forming fuel cell plates using High Velocity Metal Forming (HVMF) and is on the verge of bringing this capability to the manufacturing floor in Ohio.

The award was presented to American Trim on behalf of Matt Huffman, House District 4 and William G. Batchelder, Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The award states, “Due to the exemplary effort and initiative its staff has exhibited, the organization has achieved a tremendous record of growth, and this noteworthy enterprise is truly deserving of high praise.”
