Sprint Nextel Employees Celebrate New Company
Posted on: Monday, 15 August 2005, 15:00 CDT
Employees from coast to coast today celebrated the beginning of the new Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE:S). Sprint Nextel employees gathered at six primary venues across the country - Madison Square Garden in New York City; the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va.; the Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, Kan.; and locations in Dallas, Irvine, Calif., and Orlando - as the company recognized them for their hard work to complete the merger and looked ahead to the future.
The event, which featured speeches from Gary Forsee, Sprint Nextel's chief executive officer and president, and Tim Donahue, Sprint Nextel's executive chairman, was also broadcast to nearly 80,000 employees in cities across the U.S. and was made available through an internal webcast.
"In business, good companies anticipate change, think strategically, and position themselves well to succeed in dynamic environments," Forsee said. "Great companies possess the vision and confidence to lead through periods of change, and in doing so, they create opportunities - opportunities to innovate, to grow and ultimately define the landscape in which they operate. Today, we are launching a great company!"
Donahue added, "What's most exciting is that our new company is going to be absolutely fabulous for customers. The real key - our trump card - is going to be the way we innovate. It's innovation that has been the strength of both Sprint and Nextel... and innovation will be the hallmark of this new company in the future."
