PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Corporation , the country's leading cable and broadband communications provider, has been cited as one of the top communications companies in the nation by the Annenberg Public Policy Center for offering "women-friendly" human resources policies.

The report, released this week, includes results from a survey of participating communications companies - including telecommunications, publishing and printing, entertainment and advertising businesses - listed among Fortune magazine's ranking of the top 1,000 companies. Rankings were based on the availability of specific benefits of particular concern to women. Calculated on a percentage basis, Comcast received a score of 89, the top score for all companies in the survey.

"As a company with a long and proud family history, we're very pleased that the Annenberg center has recognized Comcast's efforts to meet the diverse needs of our employees, including working women and families," said Nancy Reardon, Vice President of Human Resources for Comcast Corporation and Executive Vice President of Human Resources for Comcast Cable. "One of Comcast's core principles is the belief that our company can only be as strong as its workforce, and we remain committed to providing an environment that allows our employees to balance work and family life."

Comcast offers a full range of benefits to its employees, from comprehensive medical coverage to retirement savings plans and educational assistance programs. Among the specific programs included in the Annenberg Center's survey were:
