Build Computer Centres, Developers Told
August 16, 2005
BALAKONG Assemblyman Datuk Hoh Hee Lee has urged developers to contribute
to the Selangor Government’s human development efforts by providing
fully-equipped computer literacy centres in the low-cost flats they build.
“Computers were a luxury a decade ago, but a necessity for education
and work today,” Hoh said, adding that most occupants of low- cost flats
are low wage earners and cannot afford computers.
While the Government is trying to provide such facilities, he said
progress was slow due to costs. Developers can contribute by building
rooms with 10 to 15 computers as well as provide basic equipment such as
scanners and printers.
