Barnes & Noble Offering Back-To-School NOOK Deal

August 9, 2011

A back-to-school promotion from Barnes & Noble is looking to assist students with the upcoming school year. Purchase any new NOOK e-reader and the bookstore will offer you $100 in free books and study tools.

The new limited-time promotion includes a complimentary academic content package with purchase of The All-New NOOK or NOOK Color today through September 11. Students — and anyone who wants to catch up on the classics — can enjoy a free collection of 12 Barnes & Noble Classics NOOK Books and 12 SparkNotes to kick off the back-to-school season.

It must be mentioned that most of the available titles are out of copyright and so are already available for free download elsewhere, Gutenberg.org, for example. However one can at least select from a dozen Spark Notes of time-consuming reads such as War and Peace. So if Organic Chemistry is making your brain melt, you can catch up on A Tale of Two Cities in your spare time.

Upon registering their new devices, customers who purchase the All-New NOOK or NOOK Color during the back-to-school promotional period will receive an e-mail with unique access codes to download their free content.

Consumers will be able to enjoy classics such as Beowulf, Ivanhoe, Crime and Punishment and The Portrait of the Artist As A Young Man and others, and popular Spark Notes guides, including To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, The Catcher in the Rye, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Study aids available for download include, NOOK Study’s 50 Survival Tips: How to Win at College, 25 Tips for Living Up a Semester Abroad, and 25 Tips for Landing an Internship. All NOOK Color users can download and enjoy free educational apps, including Fliq Notes, Fliq Tasks, NOOK Word of the Day and the popular news app, Pulse, to increase productivity and spur learning and discovery.
