Full Sail University would like to congratulate a total of 43 graduates who worked in various roles on the recent blockbuster film, Captain America: The First Avenger, which is based on the iconic 1940′s Marvel comic book series.

Forty-three Full Sail University graduates were involved in the creation of the film in roles ranging from Lead Character Rigger and Senior Stereoscopic Rotoscope Artist to Re-recording Mix Technician and Digital Effects Supervisor. A number of these artists worked at Stereo D, a leading postproduction house in Burbank, California that handled the 2D to 3D conversion for the film.

“Captain America looks fantastic, and I’m really proud of it ““ we were able to give it the depth and detail of 3D, while maintaining the overall image quality,” said Eric Timm, Full Sail University Film graduate and Rotoscope Artist for the film. “To be able to enjoy doing that with people you work well with, while getting credited on these movies, is just awesome. It’s what I’ve been dreaming of since I was back in Full Sail.”

Released in July 2011, the film features Chris Evans in the title role, and tells the origin story of Steve Rogers, the man who would become Captain America, and his epic fight against longtime nemesis the Red Skull played by Hugo Weaving. Current technology was utilized to bring this adaptation to the big-screen including the latest in 3D visual effects.

Pete Bandstra, Full Sail University’s Program Director of 3D Arts further added, “We are extremely proud of all our graduates who were involved with the creation of this film from all degrees across our institution. The Computer Animation faculty at Full Sail is particularly humbled knowing that 36 graduates from the Computer Animation degree program were involved. We are honored to celebrate alongside each of them, as their career dreams become a reality.”
