Quest Software Enhances Archive Manager for Exchange
Quest Software Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and infrastructure management solutions, today announced the general availability of version 2.0 of Quest Archive Manager for Exchange. Archive Manager enables organizations to securely retain e-mail for policy compliance and long-term storage.
Archive Manager provides valuable Exchange storage management benefits by consolidating personal folder (PST) files and online messaging data to a central archive server for improved security. The new version additionally provides message archiving capability designed to address compliance issues. Archive Manager 2.0 automatically captures messaging data to, from, and within an Exchange organization, indexes the content, and makes it available for efficient search and retrieval. Data is secured on a separate server in a non-changeable format so that messaging data is available and appropriate for addressing compliance-related needs.
"E-mail archiving isn’t just about compliance; it’s also about retaining corporate knowledge and managing storage," said Michael Osterman, leading message analyst and president of Osterman Research. "It makes sense to provide solutions that address all of these needs."
Highlights of the new version of Archive Manager include:
– Compliance filtering – Customizes archiving categories to filter messages based on keywords in message subject, message body or attachments, message sender or recipient, and type of attachment.
– Efficient, single-instance storage – Archives only one copy of each document, saving valuable storage space.
– Instant discovery – Enables users to search for messages based on specific criteria, such as message sender or recipient, time period, keywords or phrases in the message’s subject, body, or attachment, or type of attachment.
"We’re very excited to offer these new capabilities in our Exchange archiving solution," said Missy Koslosky, Quest product manager and Microsoft Exchange Most Valuable Professional (MVP). "With this new version of Archive Manager, we can now help organizations meet regulatory requirements, and continue to provide long-term message retention and recoverability for end users."
