LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- US computer chip maker AMD introduced on Tuesday a new 64-bit mobile chip, Mobile Athlon 64 processor 4000+ for high-performance, full-size notebook computers.
AMD, the arch rival of Intel in the personal computer processor business, said the new mobile chip with a faster speed offers better virus protection, an advanced security feature designed to prevent the spread of certain malicious viruses.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers plans to incorporate the Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+ into a new AMILO A1667G notebook, which is expected to be available next month throughout Europe.
AMD said its Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+ for full-size notebooks, priced at 382 US dollars each in 1,000-unit quantities, is available immediately worldwide.
