UniPrint Terminal Server Edition Makes Enterprise-Class Printing a Cost-Effective Reality for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses
Ingenica (www.ingenica.net), the innovative leader in server-based enterprise printing solutions, today announced the launch of UniPrint Terminal Server Edition. Priced at just $845US, UniPrint Terminal Server Edition is Ingenica's first solution specifically designed and priced to make enterprise-class printing functionality a cost-effective reality for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) working within a Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) Terminal Server environment.
"Developed specifically for the SMB, UniPrint Terminal Server Edition makes it simple for smaller organizations operating within a Microsoft Terminal Server environment to afford the enterprise-class printing functionality previously only available to larger organizations," explained Polly Galita, Director of Sales & Marketing, Ingenica. "Just because an organization is not considered a large enterprise does not mean that it cannot benefit from the cost benefits and productivity gains associated with enterprise-class printing functionality," Galita continued. "UniPrint Terminal Server Edition provides SMBs with enterprise-class printing capabilities ...at a price they can actually afford."
Specifically developed for Microsoft Terminal Server, UniPrint Terminal Server Edition's universal Portable Document Format (PDF) increases server stability to eliminate the printer compatibility issues, such as user session droppage, commonly experienced when running many different manufacturers' printers within a multi-user server-based computing (SbC) environment - by making it simple for all users to utilize the same PDF-based universal printer driver. Additionally, as PDF files are significantly smaller than other printing formats, UniPrint Terminal Server Edition enables an organization to reduce printer bandwidth utilization by up to 90 percent - resulting in less work for the server, improved application performance, and faster, more efficient printing.
Designed to eliminate the time and expense associated with managing different manufacturers' print drivers within the Microsoft Terminal Server environment, UniPrint Terminal Server Edition seamlessly integrates with any manufacturers' device to make it simple for SbC users to print without a specific driver having to be first installed on the Terminal Server hosting the user's application. This not only simplifies printer management, and related printer compatibility-related help-desk costs, but also provides instant productivity gains by providing users with the flexibility to print to any available printer, without having to first install the appropriate print driver on their computer - making it easy for users to print to local printers in the office, at home, or at remote sites.
When printing, UniPrint Terminal Server Edition creates a PDF print job that is returned to the client workstation via UniPrint's private virtual channel (with both Remote Desktop Protocol and Independent Computing Architecture supported), making it simple for users to print automatically, preview, save, or email print jobs. If the client device has a network printer defined, print jobs are sent to the appropriate print server for printing. No user interaction is required as jobs are automatically sent to the workstation's default printer.
A trial version of UniPrint Terminal Server Edition can be downloaded from www.uniprint.net, or purchased through one of Ingenica's resellers worldwide.
