Certiport Names World Champions of 2005 Microsoft(R) Office Specialist Competition

ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Certiport today announced Remy Bucheler, 20, from Geneva, Switzerland, and Irfan Mistry, 15, from London, England, as this year's World Champions for Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, respectively, at the annual Worldwide Competition on Microsoft(R) Office. Remy and Irfan, along with a record 25,000 other students from 41 countries, participated in several rounds of local, country, and regional competitions, capped by the final competition in Orlando, Florida, to determine this year's world champions. This weekend, the two world champions were recognized for their accomplishments in ceremonies at the Certiport PATHWAYS conference in Orlando where 36 country winners competed in the world championship.
"Receiving this award is exciting after a long journey to prepare myself for certification," said Remy Bucheler, 2005 World Champion in Microsoft Excel. "I set a goal to go as far as I could in this competition and feel great about the result."

In its third successful year, the competition attracted student entrants from around the world, producing country champions ranging in age from 14 to 45 years old. Participating countries included Argentina, Austria, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, China, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Equador, El Salvador, England, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, and Uruguay.
