SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 25, 2003--
PC Magazine and eWeek Give Top Honors To The World's Smallest Full-Featured Notebook PC with Intel(R) Centrino(TM) Mobile Technology
The new incredibly small Fujitsu LifeBook(R) P5000 notebook made a big impression at the inaugural CeBIT America trade show last week in New York, enough so that it earned the title of Best of CeBIT America in the PC category from trade show judges PC Magazine and eWEEK.
The Best of CeBIT America awards recognize outstanding products and technologies from show-floor participants. Editorial and lab staff from the two publications evaluated hundreds of entries and determined what they believed to be the very best of the best.
"Products that receive the Best of CeBIT America award represent a broad cross section of products and capabilities that impact everyone from the small business user up to the enterprise," said Michael J. Miller, editor-in-chief of PC Magazine and editorial director of Ziff Davis Media. "We were impressed by the innovative ways in which the Fujitsu LifeBook P5000 notebook is able to combine an outstanding set of features in such a small, yet affordable package. The Fujitsu notebook is well-deserving of the Best of CeBIT America award."
Starting at $1,549(1), the new LifeBook P5000 notebook bridges the gap between ultraportable and full-featured computing. At first glance, the notebook looks and feels like an ultraportable. However, this 3.85-pound notebook breaks all the norms. It is powered by an Ultra Low Voltage Intel(R) Pentium(R) M Processor 900 MHz and features the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless Network Connection 802.11b and Intel(R) 855GM chipset. The combination of technologies was designed specifically for mobile applications and works in concert to deliver superior performance, wireless capabilities and extended battery life.
To take it one step further, the LifeBook P5000 notebook is equipped with a modular bay that accommodates a DVD/CD-RW drive, second battery or weight saver module. The optional combination drive, coupled with a 10.6-inch wide-format display, transforms the notebook into a full-fledged multimedia solution. While on the road, users can watch DVD movies and burn CDs or they can insert the optional second battery for up to 10.5 hours(2) of battery life. A weight saver also fits into the bay to shed around a half pound.
Users looking for 54g(TM) wireless capabilities or a non-wireless option can choose the LifeBook P5000D notebook. This model incorporates the Intel(R) Pentium(R) M Processor 900 MHz and Intel(R) 855GM chipset, but can be purchased with or without 802.11b/54g wireless LAN.
