CSC team gets $1.7 billion UK health services deal

Computer Sciences Corp. has won a 10-year, $1.7 billion Local Service Provider contract from the United Kingdoms National Health Service to build and operate an integrated patient care record system.
Under the agreement, the health service will provide patients with a lifelong electronic care record than can be accessed by 275,000 health professionals.
CSC will leverage its extensive experience in health care and in providing IT services to public-sector organizations to deliver to the health service, said Van Honeycutt, chairman and chief executive officer of El Segundo, Calif.-based CSC. This agreement enlarges CSCs global health care base and represents a significant expansion of our work in the U.K. government sector.
CSCs team members include Hedra Ltd., Surrey, U.K., which specializes in public-sector change management; iSoft Corp., Addison, Texas, which is providing the application suite for the software solution; and SCC, a unit of Specialist Computer Holdings Plc., Birmingham, U.K., which will provide infrastructure and desktop management services.
CSC reported revenue of $13 billion for the 12 months ended Oct. 3. The company employs more than 92,000 people worldwide, and was ranked No. 5 on the Washington Technology 2003 Top 100 list.
