PARIS -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 11/03/2003 -- Dassault Systèmes (Nasdaq: DASTY) (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), Intel Corporation and IBM today announced the delivery of an integrated wireless computing platform. The offering equips CATIA V5 certified IBM T40p Thinkpads with Intel Centrino mobile technology* to give manufacturers the benefits of wireless computing as they develop new products, whether working in the office, on the shop floor, or in the field while connected to a Hotspot.
The platform enables users of IBM Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions developed by Dassault Systèmes to easily transport and share digital engineering data from a variety of Hotspots deployed in the world. Wireless mobility combined with leading-edge CATIA V5 collaborative product development software loaded on high-performance Thinkpads from IBM gives PLM users new freedom and flexibility and expands the frontiers of e- collaboration. Complex product information, including large-scale digital mockups, can be loaded, developed, reviewed or demonstrated across the digital enterprise.
"The manufacturing sector will benefit immediately from Intel Centrino mobile technology," said Alain Nicolas, director V5 Enterprise Architecture, Dassault Systèmes. "Digital mock up of products is permanently available to any CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA V5 user without constraints. In addition, Intel Centrino mobile technology on IBM T40p notebooks not only ensures power but also represents a breakthrough in terms of autonomy and lightness."
"Dassault Systèmes provides a truly innovative solution to its manufacturing customers by enabling the sharing of rich data," said Dick Bland, senior manager, worldwide manufacturing solutions, Intel Corporation. "Through the use of Intel Centrino mobile technology, companies such as Dassault Systèmes will offer its manufacturing customers an outstanding technology to ultimately speed products to market."
"With this announcement, we have reaffirmed IBM as a leader in the mobile workstation market," said Bob Galush, vice president of PC product marketing, IBM Personal Computing Division. "Last year, we offered the market's first 'certified for CATIA' notebook for mobile engineering. Today, we have brought together the strengths of our unique ThinkVantage Technologies with Intel Centrino mobile technology to deliver a powerful, wireless mobile engineering solution. Combined with the world's leading collaborative product development application, this provides our manufacturing customers with better performance and extended battery life on a platform that supports leading, industry-standard, third-party security solutions." **
