Data Loss Problems Solved by New Undelete 4.0; Executive Software Solves Accidental File Deletion Issues

Posted on: Wednesday, 1 October 2003, 06:00 CDT

BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 2003--Executive Software(R) announced the release to field test of its popular Undelete(R) utility. Faced with data loss problems and the unnecessary cost of recovery and back-up, Undelete provides instant data protection for Windows Servers the moment it is installed. Field testing has been opened to system administrators running Windows networks.

New features allow the user to get his data back from the server, where most valuable corporate data is stored, without having to wait days for IT staff to recover the data from backup tapes. This greatly reduces help desk traffic for grateful IT staff.

The interface allows users a familiar view of data -- their own files. Rather than viewing all data that resides on a server and requiring special administrator privileges, the new Undelete allows a user to retrieve and recover those files that belong to him without special configuration by the System Administrator. New Undelete will allow him to connect to the deleted files he already has access to.

Bert Kleinschmidt, Undelete Program Manager, said: "Everyone has accidentally deleted a file at some point. It's not only frustrating, but it can also be very costly. Undelete can recover a file in seconds with only a couple of mouse clicks and save hours looking through backup tapes that may have incomplete data."

Undelete first gained popularity in the corporate market because it was the only software available that could instantly recover deleted files from anywhere on the network, even the many files that completely bypassed the recycle bin. It also continues to feature Emergency Undelete(R), which enables users to restore files that were deleted before Undelete was even installed, and Undelete from Disk, which enables users to restore deleted files directly from the disk. Undelete 4.0 runs on Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP, Windows NT(R), Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003

To sign up for the Undelete 4.0 field test, users can log on to the Executive Software web site and register at: http://www.execsoft.com/feedback/field-testing/testing.asp

Current Undelete versions are available for Server, Workstation and Home at http://www.execsoft.com/undelete/undelete.asp?pr=udpr3 or through your favorite reseller. Undelete lists for $49.95 for the Workstation, $259.95 for the Server and $29.95 for the Home edition. Purchasers will be upgraded to the latest version of Undelete if purchased within 90 days of release.
